Sarsaparilla contains a wealth of plant chemicals thought to have a beneficial effect on the human body. Phytonutrients known as saponins might help reduce joint pain and skin itching, and also kill bacteria. Other phytonutrients may be helpful in reducing inflammation and protecting the liver from damage. 


Sarsaparilla, more formally known as Similaxornata or Similaxofficinale, is native to the island of Jamaica. The plant is popular in Jamaica and is often used in medicinal applications. Sarsaparilla is used for treating psoriasis and other skin diseases, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and kidney disease; for increasing urination to reduce fluid retention; and for increasing sweating. Sarsaparilla detoxifies the blood. It helps in breathing disorders and increases metabolism.Sarsaparilla is also used for strengthening the blood. It is most popularly used in Jamiaca today as a base for tonic drinks, that are believed to not only serve as an aphrodisiac but also as a way to increase sexual stamina and libido. Athletes sometimes use sarsaparilla as a steroid for performance enhancement or bodybuilding. In manufacturing, sarsaparilla is used as a flavoring agent in foods, beverages, and pharmaceuticals.


2 Ounces
  • Bring 1 cup distilled water to a rumble. Turn off pot add 1 teaspoon of loose herbs and allow to seap for 15 minutes. Strain and consume. Preferably do not sweeten.
